Hunting Season Reminders | Trail Updates| Regional Volunteer Opportunites & Events

We just really want to get the word out about trail use during hunting season since some folks have been asking. Some trail closures will occur starting with Youth Deer Weekend. Currently during Archery Season, nothing is closed, but people maybe actively hunting on land off of Southern VT College connected to the BATS Network.
>>>Go to Wicked Creepy CX at Willow Park this weekend or Volunteer! <<<
Any questions, contact us via email or Facebook! Thank you Volunteers! Happy Trails!

Other BATS Updates

SIGNAGE
We updated the kiosk at Southern Vermont College, and will be installing few mini-kiosks at access points and checking on and adding trail markers where needed on the mapped trails. Winter Project= signage improvements at junctions, etc.

TRAIL WORK DAYS
We have at least 2 formal trail work days left on 11/5 and 11/19 working near SVC Campus. There maybe one more weekend date thrown in 11/11 or 11/12 for those that can’t get enough. Update on FB and Group Me Text.

LOWER BEACON TRAIL
It is on the map, but still needs some TLC, but we won’t be working on it during hunting season. It is only signed at the beginning of each access point (Green BATS Blaze), so keep that in mind and come lend a hand when we can work on it again .

NOVEMBER MEETING/CLUB UPDATES
We will likely host an Open Board Meeting/BATS Update in November. Stay tuned.

Please observe that any and all changes to the trail system on Mount Anthony must go through the Bennington Area Trail System board of directors as our trails involve us working with multiple landowners, we need to be mindful. We may create a trail update document over the winter so blowdowns, etc can be reported and effectively taken care of. If you have ideas and want to help, BECOME A BATS MEMBER, or COME VOLUNTEER and talk to us about your ideas!

VMBA ANNUAL FUND
Please consider donating. VMBA is our parent organization and we couldn’t do what we’ve done without them. More than 90% of membership dollars go straight to the local chapters like BATS!

GroupMe App
Since a text chain to >10 people is complicated we have been using this to remind folks of rides, or plan an impromptu ride.
—If you want to be included in the GroupMe App contact Silvia. —
You don’t need the App to get the texts, but if you want to be added you need to reply to the initial “you’ve been added to the Group SMS text. If you don’t reply, you don’t get the messages and we have to add you again.

They don’t just get there by themselves! Costumes encouraged. Races begin at 8:15 am and the last race starts at 3pm. The Wicked Creepy is part of the NYCross series.
