15TH ANNUAL BACKCOUNTRY FILM FESTIVAL

Posted on Posted in Blog

Calling all winter enthusiasts! Get ready to get goosebumps while you “Ooh!” and “Ahh!” at the impact and importance of our winter wildlands through this collection of short films. The fifteenth annual Winter Wildlands Alliance Backcountry Film Festival will show in Williamstown on Saturday, January 11 at the Brooks-Rogers Recital Hall in the Bernhard Music Center located at 54 Chapin Hall Drive on the Williams College campus.  The event is free and open to the public.

The Backcountry Film Festival (BCFF) is hosted in partnership by the Williams Outing Club (WOC) whose mission is to support outdoor activities at Williams and to make the outdoors accessible to everyone, regardless of level of experience. Partnering winter recreation stewardship non-profits include: Bennington Area Trail System, Dutch Hill Alliance of Skiers and Hikers (a chapter of the Catamount Trail Association), Green Mountain Club Bennington Section, and the Thunderbolt Ski Runners.  This is our third year as a group hosting the BCFF.

Produced each year as a celebratory, backcountry community event by the Winter Wildlands Alliance, the 15th Annual Backcountry Film Festival film line-up is full of snowy, cinematic adventure sure to inspire both the local backcountry and general communities. Winter Wildlands Alliance is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and preserving winter wildlands and a quality human-powered snow sports experience on public lands.

By partnering with groups at a local level, the Winter Wildlands Alliance raises funds for these groups and communities through the annual Backcountry Film Festival national tour. All funds raised directly benefit local projects and programs that perpetuate access and stewardship of public lands.
